Bettiah is the headquarters of West Champaran district which is one of the largest cities located on the Indo-Nepal border. The word 'Bettiah' is derived from 'cane' which was once grown here on a large scale but now this town is not known from the cane. The first thing that comes to mind as soon as the name Bettiah comes, is Bettiah Raj, the majestic palace of the Maharaja and the very famous Mircha Chuda. Even though its name is Mircha but its taste is very sweet. Bettiah Raj was the second largest zamindari in the British period, with an area of ​​1800 square miles. It is said that at that time the rent was Rs 20 lakh. Mahatma Gandhi started the Satyagraha movement by staying at Hazari Mal Dharamshala in Bettiah in this city situated in the ancient foothills of the Harha river.


Only two Bihari brands of chuda are mircha chuda and Katarni chuda.


We all know that paddy is cultivated on a large scale in Bihar and Bettiah's Mircha Chuda is very famous along with Bhagalpuri Katarni chura.
