Urad wadis are prepared by spicing & sun drying the dumplings made from ground lentils. Although it possesses a meaty texture and taste, it differs from tasting like meat, but a little close.
Plus they are vegan as well as gluten-free. These dumplings are also a great substitute for meat and even the not so healthy soy chunks.
Urad Daal wadi can be fried and served as a side dish. They soak up the sauce or gravy in which they are cooked and yet retain their texture, flavour & taste. It can also be added to various vegetable curries, meat dishes, rice pulao etc., to give these dishes a distinctive spicy flavour.
They can be soaked in water, mashed and used as stuffing for parathas, Kachori and Khasta Kachoris.
